  • Today there are Permaculture projects, designers, teaachers and initiatives all over the world, all helping to create an Evolution in human society and to make our world and lives safe, abundant and fulfilling

Activities

The whole emphasis of the festival is about meeting people and having fun while at the same time being surrounded by great things to do and participate in. There will be workshops where you can learn to do felting, dying with plants, wild food forays, making solar ovens, rocket stoves, and much more. There will be a smithy and a bodger on site too in the workshop area. If you've got something to offer then let us know! Participation is the order of day during the Festival.

Permaculture is also very much about People care so there will also be the Perma-forme area where you will find Tai Chi, Yoga, Alexander Technique, and more. There will also be quiet area for families and people who want to relax after a busy workshop, this area will be tobacco and alcohol free, no dogs are permitted on site (apart from guide dogs, let us know before you come please).

Accreditation Diploma event

You will also be able to participate at the presentation by permaculture apprentices of the work they have done over the previous 2 years, you will need to have completed yourself a Permaculture Design Course. If you too would like to present then let us know, the 2 Diplomats who will be leading the event speak both French and English and there are French apprentices who are anglophone for your peer group.

No Permaculture event would be complete without some chat so there will be conferences too, themes such as complimentary currencies, Terre des Liens (a group who are slowly but surely raising the money and buying bits of France, AMAP (these are like CSA's) and more still. We will also be holding a workshop who's aim will be to unite the many Eco-active associations into a coherent force for change and during this we will describe the outline design for France which has been done.

We should mention that there will be quite a lot of music, 3 stages, and some great bands already lined up, there will also be Open Stage slots where you can get up there and do your thing. Oh! In case you're worried there will be periods of some loudness and dancing but there will also be periods when quiet descends.

On the Friday we are happy to have the Cirque Chrome with us (no animals except a horse!) a modern circus with a spectacle of balancing, acrobatics and music. Their Big Top will be available during the weekend for other things

L'Association Française de Permaculture

The objectives are to promote Permaculture in France and the design for the Association is as a low maintenance organisation without a formal membership system but linking into the memberships of all the Eco-associations in France. The Association is semi-nomadic, it periodically moves to act as a growth pole in areas where there is little or no permacultural activity. The Association organises the annual Permaculture Festival

L'Université Populaire de Permaculture

The Université has taken on the task of regulating PmC education in France, as students will be based from the Université they can then work/study at Permaculture projects who work professionally. The Univesité also co-ordinates the different Permaculture courses being run in France and supplies teachers where needed. There are also several research projects underway and a 'compagnonage' apprenticeship scheme. The Université is also semi-nomadic in the same way as the Association but going to projects that are already well'established, this helps avoid one particular place or project becoming dominant.

Le Forum des Permaculteurs

Here you can join discussions about all aspects of Permaculture, it is in French language.
